UMM.......OK.......FOR SOME REASON, my postscript got edited out. But the point of this announcement is to let everyone know I am dj'ing the annual New Year's Eve party, nay the END OF THE DECADE PARTY, at Bobby Love's in Chicago. So, join us if you can!!!! I will be counting down the Top 20 dance tracks of 2009 and the top 10 of the decade.

The BEST of 2009

...................UNDOUBTEDLY, this, the last year of the decade, was probably one of the best in terms of music. We have witnessed the rise of GaGa, the 'fall' of Beyonce, the expansion of Kelly, the return of Shakira's bestial gyrations, and perhaps the best comeback story ever with Britney. Last year I did two 'best of sets' that I posted, but while the music was far better this year I have only mixed one set. For tracks that I posted previously on my seasonal mix-sets, in most cases I have tried to keep it fresh for y'all by digging up new or alternate versions.

These are my faves...for those of you joining me tonight at Bobby Love's for the annual Top 20 Countdown, these tracks do not at all influence tonights set. You will be able to come and vote for your faves.

Hope to see some of my listeners there tonight! much luv, much respect...

P.S. The tracklist will be posted in comments - but, if you can make out the pictures, you know the artists who made the cut!!

...................IMPORTANT NOTE TO LISTENERS AND SUBSCRIBERS - I realize this set is posted twice - I am experimenting with a new feature on podomatic that allows me to bookmark and place titles on the individual tracks. And even add some pics. When you press play, you are able to skip to various individual tracks. Please leave me a comment to let me know if doing this is worth the time (cause it really is a lot of work).

............The Nelson twins embodied a rare but ultimate fusion between 80's glam-rock and adult contemporary music. And while their foray into pop music was basically a one album wonder, that record remains one of my favorite pop albums from back in the day. If you liked cheesey glam ballads and sing along pop/rock anthems, the album "After The Rain" was one you could put on and easily listen to all the way through.
Stay tuned...more posts to come, including some end of year round ups!

......................APOLOGIES AROUND, to listeners and subscribers who downloaded the version I posted last. After spinning it I had about four more hours of edits and adjustments. I fixed some volume and pitch issues with the vocals and tweaked several other things.

Anyway, here it is again, KYLIE vs. GAGA.

Ahhhhhhhh...yes. The 80's was replete with, what's the cliche, 'One Hit Wonders'. But there were many artists you might think were one hit wonders - and I oftentimes hear friends and co-workers referring to the Rocky anthem 'Eye of The Tiger' as falling into this category. That of course is not the case. The rock band SURVIVOR had a string of hits in the mid 80's, including "Burning Heart", "The Search Is Over", "High On You", and of course the track here, which I have given a signature update.

Hope you enjoy!

Love, peace and music...always!

I Won't Back Down (dj Tim a's Dirty 80's Mix)

Personally I love acoustic music. Cheryl Crow, Fleetwood Mac, and many others. In 1989, Tom Petty released his first official solo record, 'Full Moon Fever'. I loved it! Though my favorite track was the modest rock hit "Running Down A Dream", I always loved the lead single and top 40 hit "I Won't Back Down". The biggest hit off that album, was the rock anthem "Free Fallin'".

Prophetically, I heard this song while shopping at Border's the other day. Petty does still manage to get a lot of radio play in the US on Adult Contemporary formats. I thought it would be fun to play with so, here it is kicked up a notch.

If you check out some Petty music, also try the album 'Wildflowers'. EXCELLENT acoustic work.

A David Bowie classic - I beleive his best selling single, which has already been remixed a thousand times or so. However, this was by request for a listener in France, who wanted it remixxed as true to the original as possible with as little electronica as possible.

Enjoy!

!!!!ATTENTION - THIS POSTING WAS EDITED 8/31/09!!!!

SOMEHOW, a non-HQ version ended up being loaded. My apologies to those of you who already downloaded...

Well.......summer lovers........WHAT SUMMER! Please do not get too upset even though I am already releasing my Fall set. We had summer here in Chicago for about 2 weeks or so. Usually we are sweatin' our *sses off through September but it feels more like March or October outside!! YUCK!

So, I guess I'll try to stay ahead of the curve with the weather. I've got another set here with newbies and veterans. I know everyone is probably over Michael Jackson, but I found this mix of Billy Jean and I am really liking the way it was put together; simple but sharp. Also, I do not usually do a lot of rap, but this new Pitbull track is infectious after the second or so listen.

And for those of you that have not checked it out yet, the new Cascada album is fantastic! I am optimistic we will be listening to several of the tracks from 'Evacuate The Dance Floor' over the next few seasons. The latest track released from this set, "Dangerous", is not one of my favorite tracks on the album, but it has some great remixes and I am LUVING it now (which is why I opened with it).

There is a little bit more progressive and housey dance then I usually mix, but as always its fun and fresh. The new Sugababes and Ida Corr tracks are thumpin'! And David Guetta scores yet another triumph with Julie McKnight and "How Soon Is Now". It will raze the club!

Stay tuned for more...

peace, love, music and of course, dancing...
